GFWC Florida Annual Convention
Wow! What a great time I had. This was my first convention for GFWC and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I met lots of new people some who were relatively new, like myself, but many who had been members for years. As a first timer, I was excited to see that they had an early Saturday morning "newbie" workshop that covered many of things at the convention so we would know what standard procedures were.
After that I attended the opening business sessions where there were 327 voting members in attendance and 110 non-voting members (I was a voting member as a proxy for our President), I watched the 2024-2026 candidate presentations where each candidate was introduced by their sponsor in a short speech and then followed by the candidate speech, reviewed and voted on proposed bylaw changes, and then was amazed by the anniversaries that were being celebrated based on their GFWC federation date which may be later than their actual club start date:
-
1 for 50 years (1974)
-
3 for 75 years (1949)
-
2 for 105 years (1919)
-
11 for 110 years (1914)
-
2 for 115 years (1909)
-
1 for 120 years (1904)
-
1 for 130 years (1894)
Truly hoping to make it to the fall convention and attend many of the workshops they will have there.

Women's Club of Leesburg submitted three art projects for consideration at the convention. The scrapbook won first place and the angel quilt got an honorable mention - congratulations ladies!
